Three of the four players in Tech's inside linebacker two-deep last season haven't been on the field this spring for different reasons.
Among the young players who have made the most noise this spring are Ben Roberts, a redshirt freshman from Fort Worth Eaton, and Wesley Smith, a sophomore from Midland Legacy. Both joined the program as true freshmen in 2022, but Roberts redshirted and Smith played in seven games.

Titus Swen, EHS Class of 2019, who was the University of Wyoming’s featured running back last season before being dismissed from the team by coach Craig Bohl, has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts.
Before last week’s NFL draft, he was listed as a “priority free agent” prospect by Lance Zierlein, an analyst for NFL.com.
“Swen has offered steady rush production for Wyoming over the last two seasons despite possessing average size and play speed,” Zierlein wrote. “He runs with patience and has the foot quickness to find his cuts quickly, but he needs to change his tempo more frequently to keep linebackers guessing.
Keep an eye on roberts

"I don't want to say surprise," McGuire said, "but if there's been a guy that's really stepped up — like, whoa — it's probably Ben. He's got a really good feel for dropping in the pass game. That's because he played safety in high school and kind of grew into a linebacker, but really excited about him."
Tech used a four-man rotation last year at inside linebacker with Krishon Merriweather backed by Tyrique Matthews to the field side and Kosi Eldridge backed by Jacob Rodriguez to the boundary side. Roberts and fellow 2022 signee Ty Kana redshirted.
